How to pick the best banger for your rig?

There are so many different styles of bangers out there right now, how do you know which one is the right one for you? You don’t want to go too big and your setup takes way too long to get up to temp, or worst go too small and your dab doesn’t melt evenly and you end up with wasted wax.

Size Matters….

If your banger doesn’t even fit your rig then nothing else matters so the first thing we need to figure out is what size fitting and angle your rig is.

If your dab rig has a female joint you will be needing a male jointed banger and vice versa if your rig is male jointed then you will need a female banger.

The next thing we need to determine is the angle of your dab rig. If the joint is pointed straight up, that means it will take a 90 degree angle banger. If the joint is pointed at a slant, up and out then you will need a 45 degree banger.

Next you need to figure out the joint size and sex. See our sizing guide to help determine the joint size you will need.

What type of dab rig do you have? Macro, or Micro?

Micro dab rigs normally are smaller in size and will hold less volume and is meant for small micro dabs. Certain style quartz bangers are designed more for micro dosing like the classic angle top banger as well as any standard wall (2mm) bucket style banger.

You want to avoid any styles that are too thick (3mm+) as these bangers will take a longer time to get up to temp. These smaller classic bangers work well with simple style carb caps like a paddle or bubble. You’ll want to avoid directional carb caps as the excessive airflow can make your slab crawl up the neck and wasting your dab.

Macro dab rigs are larger in size and can handle more volume so it has been designed for those larger dabs and fat slabs, and needs to be paired with a more robust banger nail to work properly. A fatter thicker quartz banger 3mm,4mm and a larger can size 25mm+ like the gavel or a thermal will provide enough surface area for a large dab to vape and will be thick enough to hold the heat long enough to finish the dab.

These larger thicker bangers will usually need a directional carb cap to help move the air around inside the banger nail.

These larger style bangers have more options when it comes to carb caps.

Lastly, is flavor and intensity preference? Do you prefer taking low temp dabs or high temp dabs?

Certain style bangers can be used for both high and low temp like the gavel designs especially the opaque white bottoms which heats up quicker than the clear but holds the heat for longer, thanks to its unique porous surface.

Terp Vacuums and other taller can bangers are designs for more high temp as they can handle the heat while minimizing the risk of the the slab crawling up the neck.

Thermals and Core Reactors are more geared toward the lower temp range as they have a greater surface area to promote even heating while shielding the heating surface from the ambient air so the surface stays hot longer. This will allow you to stay longer inside that low temp range.
